If there’s one thing Jason and I will almost always recommend to guests in the fall, it’s this: get in the car and go for a drive. I know. Groundbreaking travel advice. But hear me out. Some of the prettiest places in the Smokies aren’t places where you need a ticket, a reservation or even much of a plan. Sometimes all you need is a cup of coffee, a good playlist and a few hours with nowhere you absolutely have to be.

I know everyone says fall is their favorite time in the Smokies, but honestly, I get it.

There’s just something about those first cool mornings, the leaves starting to change and finally being able to sit outside without melting. Jason and I live here, and we still find ourselves taking the long way home sometimes just because the mountains look so good.

And if you’re coming to the Smokies as a couple, I think fall is one of the absolute best times to visit.

Downtown has quietly become one of our favorite places for a memorable dinner —and it’s just a quick 12–15 minute drive from Anson Arbor Farm, which makes it so easy to turn dinner into a full evening out.

For the past year, I’ve felt a quiet pull toward something slower. Something simpler. Something more grounded. And if I’m being honest, I think part of me has been craving this for a long time.

I don’t know about you, but Spring is when I start to come back to life.

It’s my favorite transition of the seasons - moving from the quiet stillness of winter into the fresh energy of Spring. The days stretch a little longer and everything around you slowly starts to wake up again.

Spring at the farm is no different. It’s so refreshing when the trees leaf back out, the grass is a rich shade of green (thanks to Jase), and the landscape is in full bloom. We want you to experience everything the farm - and the area - has to offer this season…

Valentine’s Day weekend at the farm is always special.

This year as we watched guest arrive and settle into their cottages - some we had a chance to meet and others we didn’t - but as we hear your stories, Jason and I always quietly reflect on why we built Anson Arbor Farm in the first place.

When we first stepped onto this property - long before the cottages, before the barn, before any of it was planned out - we didn’t just see old buildings. We saw so much potential.

For a long time, I thought rest was something I could “get to later.”

When the project wrapped.
When the calendar slowed down.
When everything felt more under control.

But like so many people, I didn’t realize how much my body was holding onto until I finally started paying attention.

Over the past year, I’ve been on a personal journey focused on nervous system regulation — learning what it actually means to slow down, to feel safe in my body again, and to truly rest instead of just powering through.

Lately, travel looks a little different.

Instead of long itineraries, packed schedules, and trips that leave us more exhausted than when we left, there’s a quieter movement taking hold — one that Southern Living has identified as a major travel trend for 2026.

They’re calling it Tiny Travel.

And honestly? It feels like a collective exhale.

Five years ago today, Jason and I stood on 20 acres of overgrown land that most people would have walked away from without a second glance.

It wasn’t beautiful. It wasn’t peaceful. It certainly wasn’t romantic.

It was a junkyard.

One of my favorite things about living in the Smokies is how our little corner of Tennessee transforms with the seasons. From September through New Year’s Day, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg become a nonstop celebration—first with glowing pumpkins and fall colors, then with twinkling holiday lights and snowy mountain magic. And if you’re planning a getaway, Jason and I would love to welcome you to stay with us at Anson Arbor Farm, where our cozy cottages are the perfect retreat after a day of exploring.

One year ago, we launched Anson Arbor Farm with hopeful hearts, big dreams, and a vision for what this little slice of Tennessee could become. What we didn’t know then—what we couldn’t have known—was just how full our hearts would be a year later.

The last year has been nothing short of a dream come true for Jase and me.  We had a vision, set out to make it a reality and last year we had a front row seat to all the guests coming and enjoying this property we poured so much of ourselves into.  We talk a lot about how every now and then something will stop us in our tracks and we’ve both had one of those moments where you’re flooded with emotion and the realization that we did it.  

But sometimes what people see happening on the surface or in Instagram stories isn’t always the full story.  It’s often just a small glimpse at our day.  Our other reality is that for the last year, we’ve been desperately chasing down answers to some health issues that continue to plague me. 

Literally. Y’all, when we decided to build 12 tiny cottages as a couple vacation destination, the last thing I thought would be hard is the laundry. In my mind, it was simple…we’ll purchase the linens and then a local laundry service would help us launder them. Right? Wrong.

Every event deserves a unique and memorable setting. That's why we're excited to introduce our charming, newly renovated barn event space, a versatile venue designed to accommodate a variety of gatherings. At the heart of our property, it’s such an easy way to gather in a communal space, while allowing each guest their own private accommodations. The best part… the space is so flexible!! We want every event at the Barn to be a reflection of our guests’ vision, so we’re willing to help bring that to life.

What on earth would ever prompt us to build 12 cottages uniquely designed as the perfect couples getaway??

For us, the answer is simple - it was to create a place where couples could retreat, to slow things down, connect or reconnect, create memories, but ultimately grow as a couple.

But why does that matter to us??

We did it! If you read the last blog post, you already know a few of the challenges we faced in the last six months. We hurdled one obstacle after the other, but y’all, we did it! We finally put a period after construction and officially checked it off the list.

I’ve neglected to share a lot over the last 6 months.  I just haven’t had it in me to rehash the journey, especially while we were still living it.  But it only seems fair to share a little bit about why our Grand Opening event was so special for us.
