We Built This Place for Love
Valentine’s Day weekend at the farm is always special.
This year as we watched guest arrive and settle into their cottages - some we had a chance to meet and others we didn’t - but as we listened to your stories, Jason and I always quietly reflect on why we built Anson Arbor Farm in the first place.
When we first stepped onto this property - long before the cottages, before the barn, before any of it was planned out - we didn’t just see old buildings. We saw so much potential.
Space to slow down.
Room to catch your breath.
Time to be intentional.
Relationships don’t usually unravel overnight. They can drift in quiet, subtle ways. Through long work days, carpools, endless to-do lists, and phones that never stop buzzing. Life has a way of accidentally leaving little room for - the two of you.
We created Anson Arbor Farm for that very reason. Not for grand gestures. But for a simple change of pace.
Permission to wake up slowly without an alarm.
Time to linger over coffee on the patio.
Unhurried conversations without distractions.
Memorable moments soaking in the outdoor tub.
This past weekend, we had couples arrive from all walks of life. Some were young and newly married, some were celebrating 30+ years together - different seasons, but with the same intention.
We hope that your Valentine’s Day felt intentional, too. Not about performance, but instead about presence. Presence doesn’t happen by accident. It happens by choice.
If you’re not in a season where you can book a getaway, that’s okay. It will come. In the meantime, I encourage you to take simple steps to be intentional with your time together. Put the phones away for a designated amount of time, order in your favorite meal and a light a few candles, or just crawl in bed at night and carve out time to talk about your day. A little goes a long way.
Valentine’s weekends at the farm tend to fill quickly. For that reason, many couples reserve their cottage long before February arrives. This year we ended up with a lengthy waitlist - which we are grateful so many were willing to trust us with such a special weekend. We wish we could have welcomed them all.
So consider this a gentle nudge - if you’re in a season that’s left you needing some time away together, put it on the calendar. Give yourselves something to look forward to.
We would be honored to hold a space for you at the farm. ❤️
Until next year, Valentine’s.
